Choosing in the Unknown
Snapshots from the Field: Choosing in the Unknown
There are moments when life feels like it’s holding its breath…
when nothing is certain, and everything feels just slightly out of reach.
I recently held space for a session where that feeling was present in a very real way.
There was stress…
uncertainty…
and the weight of not knowing what comes next.
Sometimes, the hardest place to be is not in action…
but in the space before it.
The place where decisions haven’t been made yet,
but something within is beginning to stir.
As we moved through the session, the focus gently shifted…
from what might happen
to what could be chosen.
Not from pressure…
but from possibility.
There is a quiet power in recognizing that even in uncertain moments,
there is still a place within that gets to choose how to meet what’s coming.
We don’t always control the outcome…
but we can begin to reconnect with the ability to respond from that place.
And sometimes, before any decision can be made,
the body simply needs to rest.
To soften.
To unplug.
To step out of the constant mental loop, even for a little while.
What unfolded was not a dramatic shift…
but a gentle one.
A settling.
A pause.
A moment where the nervous system could finally exhale.
And in that space…
something begins to open.
Not all at once.
But enough.
Enough to take the next breath.
Enough to take the next step when it’s time.
There is a difference between waiting for something to happen to you…
and recognizing there is still a part within that gets to choose how you meet it.
When the body softens, the mind begins to loosen its grip…
and what once felt overwhelming starts to feel possible again.
